Okay, so I like snails a lot. Coming from a former (and still very much at heart) tomboy, I just like the way they tickle my hand. They carry their homes on their backs.
I am always sad to see these guys get squished on the sidewalk. My mum always find me plucking them up and saving the poor things from this fate. Though I better keep them out of mum's garden.
